Business tax preparation
A business return prepared by someone who knows the business
Business tax preparation and filing for sole proprietors, LLCs and other small businesses, handled by a person who asks about the business, not just the numbers on a spreadsheet.
- A person reviews every return before filing
- Works from your books, whoever keeps them
Who this is for
Sole proprietors and single-member LLCs
Business income reported on your personal return, prepared alongside it rather than as an afterthought.
Multi-member LLCs and partnerships
A return that has to get the allocation between owners right, not just the total.
Businesses that already use Kay for bookkeeping or 2290
If we already keep your books or file your Form 2290, we already have context on the business that makes tax prep faster.
What to expect
A conversation about the business before anything is prepared, so nothing relevant gets missed.
A return reviewed by a person before it is filed, not auto-submitted the moment the fields are full.
A plain-English explanation of what is on the return and why, not just a number at the bottom.
A place to send business records as they come in through the year, rather than a single scramble at filing time.
How it works
- 1
Tell us about the business
Entity type, what the business does, and how far along your books are.
- 2
Send your records
Financial statements or books, prior-year returns, and any relevant business documents.
- 3
We prepare and review the return
Prepared from your records and reviewed before it is filed or sent to you for signature.
- 4
File and keep a copy
The return is filed and you receive a copy for your records, along with anything relevant for next year.
What we ask for to get started
- Entity details
- EIN, entity type, and ownership structure.
- Financial records
- Books or financial statements for the year. If your books are not current, see Bookkeeping.
- Prior-year return
- If you have one. It shortens the conversation considerably.
Questions
My books are not current. Can you still prepare the return?
Tell us honestly where the books stand. Sometimes bookkeeping needs to happen first; we will say so rather than build a return on numbers we are not confident in.
Do you handle multi-member LLCs and partnerships?
Yes, including the allocation of income between owners.
Can this work alongside my Form 2290 filing?
Yes. If you already file Form 2290 with us, we already have your business EIN and structure on file.
