Form 2290 pricing

One fee per return, set by how many vehicles are on it. No per-truck charge, no upsell part-way through, and no surprise at checkout. Our fee is separate from the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax, which is paid to the IRS.

Mixed returns

Every vehicle on the return counts toward the band, taxable or suspended. Three taxable trucks plus two suspended is a five-vehicle return, so $99.99.

Suspended-only returns

$9.95 whatever the count, but only when every vehicle on the return is a Category W suspended vehicle. One taxable truck takes it out of that case.

Heavy Vehicle Use TaxThe IRSDepends on each vehicle's taxable gross weight and the month it was first used. We calculate it and show you the exact figure before you pay us.

You choose how the HVUT reaches the IRS on the return itself: direct debit from a bank account, or through your own EFTPS enrollment.

Pricing questions

What decides which price I pay?

How many vehicles are on the return. One vehicle is $14.95; two to four is $44.99; five to nine is $99.99; ten to nineteen is $129.99; twenty to forty-nine is $209.95. It is one fee for the whole return, not a charge per truck.

I have both taxable and suspended vehicles. How is that counted?

Every vehicle on the return counts toward the band. Three taxable trucks plus two suspended ones is a five-vehicle return, so $99.99. The $9.95 price applies only when every vehicle on the return is suspended.

What if I have more than 49 vehicles?

Those are quoted individually. You can still build the return in your account, but checkout is held and we price it with you rather than guessing. Email or call us and we will sort it out the same day where we can.

What does the fee cover?

Preparing the Form 2290 from what you enter, calculating the tax, validating the return against the IRS schema, having a preparer review it, transmitting it to the IRS under our EFIN, and delivering the stamped Schedule 1 to your account.

Is the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax included?

No. The HVUT is a federal tax you owe the IRS and is paid to the IRS, not to us. Our fee is separate and both amounts are shown to you, itemised, before you pay anything.

When do I pay?

After the return is prepared and you have seen the exact tax, and before we transmit it. Payment is what releases the return to a preparer for review and filing.

What if the IRS rejects the return?

We work with you to correct it and resubmit. You are not charged our fee again for resubmitting a return we already filed for you.

What about VIN corrections?

A VIN correction is filed as a free-of-tax amendment to your original return. Email us the filing and the correct VIN.

Can I get a refund?

Contact us. Once a return has been reviewed and transmitted to the IRS the work is done and cannot be recalled, so refund eligibility after transmission is limited. See our Terms of Service.
